T1LC News – September 2023

We are another month on and work on 31463 continues at a good pace.

Starting with the engine, the cam shaft trays have had a final clean, fuel pump lifts checked new gaskets fitted and oil put in the trays. The push rod tubes have been painted and refitted, the push rods were fitted followed by the rockers. Tappet and bridge piece clearences have also been set. Fuel pumps have been refitted on b bank following the cam shaft repairs. Various fuel, oil and water pipes have been taken off, repainted, flushed and refitted, followed by their associated brackets. The injectors, drip trays and pipes have been refitted. The intermediate and top covers are fitted. The air inlet manifolds have been fitted. The engine itself has also been started to be repainted.

With the end in sight on the engine we have turned our attention to the cooling system, the body grills have been removed. The radiator elements have all been taken out, steam cleaned, pressure tested and new gaskets made. Thankfully just two elements failed, so we will test some more that we have in stock. The area where the elements live has been cleaned and is being stripped of paint ready for a repaint.
