T1LC News – January 2024

Since our last update there has been lots of progress on 31463.

On the engine various water hoses have been getting changed and one of the water pipes has been removed and repainted.

We’re planning on putting the roofs on in the not too distant future so we’re cleaning and painting area’s that aren’t accessible once the roofs are on. Between the turbos and the wall that divides the engine and the electrical compartment has been scraped and painted in primer then gloss, this will allow us on our next visit to install the last remaining section of the air inlet pipes. The heat sheilds for the joining pipes of the air inlet have been painted. The air in take on A side top and sides has been stripped and painted in primer then gloss. The panel behind where the water header tank lives has been painted in primer. The cant rails from the generator to the cab have been stripped and are in primer. The walls in the engine room have been sanded and painted in primer.

The roof braces on the sides and underneath have been painted in gloss.

The loco has had a trip outside and had internal steam cleaning.
