May continued to be a busy month on 31463.
All the work on the conrods is now complete so these are ready to have the pistons fitted once they come back from machining. The process for completing work on the conrods was the bolts were checked after they were destretched, they were restretched and the internal bore of the big end bearing measured.
We have received back the last 4 cylinder heads from overhaul, which means we have a complete set to fit to the loco and these have been painted.
The roofs have recieved some attention as a couple of leaks were found when it rained so this these have been fixed.
The air filter grills have been painted into gloss for the boiler room and cleaning and painting has been done around the concrete block.
The walls around the brake frame need painting and the floor under the brake frame is rotting so it was decided to take the brake frame out. A number of pipes and valves within the frame had to be taken out so the legs could be cut to get the frame out of the loco.
