T1LC News – February and March 2025

31463 is naked.

31463 began the first February weekend working party in a different shed to allow repairs during the week to the 107 dmu so gave us a chance to take a look at the bodywork in natural daylight.

All the opening grills have been removed from the loco, cleaned, prepared for paint and are in the process of being undercoated.

The bodywork paint stripping is almost complete, just the inside of some grill frames, no. 1 cab door and some other fiddly areas to complete. As expected there are a number of areas that require weld repairs, once these are done we can start painting the body, which is good timing with the temperature picking up.

From our stores at Loughborough a head code box cover has been moved to Ruddington, the lenses removed, which are very sun bleached so we will replace these and the rubber seals. The panel has been stripped of paint ready for a copy to be made as we only have the one.

After a bit of persuasion the 4 nuts that hold no. 2 end second man buffer were freed off, this will make life easier when the other buffer returns.
